Business cards are important but collecting tons of them from a networking event is not the point. Collect business cards with the intention of getting to know the person that is receiving it and vice versa.

If you are ever handed a name by somebody at a networking event and told to contact them, it is best practice to do so. Jim Penny, author of "Networking Genius" and Founder of N10, LLC, says it is imperative to work the connections you are given. You might not even know what good it is doing until the future and you will be making a connection with your original networker.
