Blog Post: Is money worth more than the cost of Humanitarianism?
posted Friday, February 20, 2009 4:30 PM
I am slightly distraught about the media's coverage of the inane. Where are the subjects regarding the losses of jobs, criminal activity of persons who have lost their jobs, the impact on their CHILDREN, the deaths of whole families because there is no hope, etc? I have been constantly beating my head against a brick wall to get someone to listen to my impassioned plea to help displaced workers for free (free), and asking for donations in as small of an amount as a dollar to help with costs, and evidently my pleas have gone unanswered. Where is our humanity and Christianity? I wrote to the governor's office to obtain some form of advice or assistance in our endeavor to put our displaced workers back into the working world. The response I received was that although there were no grants available for this project, I was welcome to apply for a loan. If my company is providing assistance to displaced workers at no charge, where in the world am I supposed to get the money to repay the loan. I am already absorbing all the costs, so how much good would a loan be for my plight? We have a number of projects planned to raise money to continue to help displaced workers and their families to cover our costs. In March, we are hosting a writer's contest with a March 6th deadline, and winner will be announced on March 13th. Entry fee is $25 with an award of $600.
