The Youth Employment Life Skills (Y.E.L.S.) program,” facilitated by John A. Willis, is a forty-hour (40) series of workshops broken down into 10 key areas of course study designed to guide and facilitate youth into meaningful and productive life styles. Our process, through a spiritual foundation, is to deposit core strategies of proven curriculum and research with guided practice activities and instruction that will enhance each workshop participants’ personal, professional, and family life as well as society as a whole. The aim of the WHRDG Youth Employment Life Skills program is to improve job readiness skills, and to deter gang related and other criminal activity by building core skills which will enhance self-esteem and reveal hidden potential. We have incorporated essential elements in order to obtain this goal and have established 10 Areas of Core Life Skills. The essential elements are addressed in 5 workshop categories that include Relational Skills, Professional Development, Employment Strategies, Health & Wellness, and Leadership.
YELS classes will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays from 5:00 – 7:00pm at the Paul Lawrence Dunbar Library. To participate, youth must reside or attend school within the 75216 zip code Contact Us
