The NCTCOG, a regional planning agency serving more than 200 local governments in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, has an exciting opportunity in its
9-1-1 Program Area within the Community Services Department for a Communications Supervisor. The purpose of this position is to serve as a project manager for departmental public education and training activities. This is accomplished by coordinating major communications and public relations activities and campaigns; overseeing departmental public education, event planning, overseeing the update and maintenance of Web pages; media relations, leading the development and implementation of 9-1-1 program publications and educational materials; researching, developing and implementing 9-1-1 training in the region, creating lesson plans and curriculum, oversight of compliance with state and national mandates and training requirements to include TCLEOSE and supporting the manager in developing budgets, goals, work plans and implementation strategies. Other duties include supervising staff and serving as a 9-1-1 Department representative. Skills / Requirements
Work requires a broad knowledge of a general professional or technical field, normally acquired through 4 years of college resulting in a Bachelor’s degree with a major concentration in public relations, communication, journalism, marketing, political science, public administration or a closely related field, along with at least three years of related work experience. Position requires license or certification as a TCLEOSE Instructor.
Ideal candidate will need to be able to work independently in a fast paced environment, have strong administrative, supervisory, and organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks. Applicant must also have experience in public speaking and presentations, possess strong verbal and written communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills, and be able to interact with all levels of internal and external customers.
