Tennis and Pickleball Instructor
at City of Coppell
- Basic Function
Ideal candidate will provide informative, high-energy Pickleball and Tennis instruction to both youth and adult patrons in private, semi-private and group settings. The right candidate will have the opportunity to assist in tennis center activities, events and tournaments.
This is a year round part time 20 hour per week no benefit position with a varied daytime, evenings and weekend schedule.
Lesson pay structure depends on qualifications
- Essential Job Functions
- Be available to teach as needed to Tennis Center members and guests during City programmed group classes. Times will vary depending on particular programs, but could include weekdays, weeknights and weekends.
- Teach private and semi-private lessons that are scheduled at mutually agreed upon times by instructor and tennis center clients.
- Assist with scheduled activities, special events and tournaments.
- Promote tennis center programs, events and pro shop products.
- Provide excellent customer service to tennis center patrons while in tennis center pro and/or on court.
- Ensure staff and customer safety.

- Minimum Requirements
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred. High School and/or College tennis playing background is required. Professional certification with the USPTA or PTR is preferred, but we can help assist a candidate in the process of attaining this certification. Some experience in coaching tennis or teaching tennis to children or adults is preferred. Employee must be at least 16 years old. Background in volunteering for tennis related events or activities are a plus. Certification of CPR/FA is preferred; it will be required upon hire.
Employee must possess knowledge of the game of tennis, how it is played correctly and able to demonstrate proper tennis stroke fundamentals with their own play on court. Background in customer service or customer care is a plus. Knowledge of CPR and related techniques is preferred. Knowledge regarding USTA 10 Under Tennis, USTA Leagues, USTA tournaments and special events is a plus.
